Dunnock On The Wrigley

Lovely to see the sunshine again today.

We have a flock of dunnocks living in our large aluminium block of glasshouses. John Clare knew them as hedge sparrows but they're not from that family. They're more like robins than sparrows with their sharp, thin beaks ideal for catching insects. They scurry around on the ground like mice. This one is sitting on a weird old three-wheeled Wrigley truck. The engine of it is attached to the single front wheel assembly and there's a contraption like handlebars on top of the engine. These little trucks were used in nurseries in the heyday of the Lea Valley as they were small and manoeuvrable enough to be easily used inside glasshouses.
