The suits

This is really just an excuse to show you the wallpaper in the council chamber of our Mairie. It's adorned the walls for thirty years or more and still looks brand new.

Today was the official handover of our lovely new fibre optic cable (which has been functioning perfectly since early December) so all the political grandees showed up to be warmly congratulated. In his speech, our mayor Serge (third from left) pointed out to the president of the Conseil Général that he was wearing a tie for the occasion. Last time they met he didn't, because he was angry (it has to be said that Serge very rarely wears one, angry or not). More oddly, he also made a point of congratulating our collective for protesting in a well-mannered way, with no bad language or violence, giving the credit for this to S.

And this evening, to Narbonne, with front-row seats to see Cécile McLorin Salvant. Just marvellous; I have never heard any singer apart from Sarah Vaughan who has such control over the powerful instrument that is her voice from whisper to roar. Lots of new material, and Growling Dan had to be heard to be believed. I can't find that online but there are some videos here -- pick any, they are all brilliant!
