Tatton

It snowed last night, and snow was still lying this morning - but a slow thaw seemed on the cards, so whilst it's here we decided to head for Tatton for a wintry walk.

This is a view looking east. The red deer have grouped well away from where most people walk, and where there seemed to be less snow cover. Beyond, and in the distance, the Pennines are covered in snow and are more evident for it. And just in view is the control tower at Manchester Airport, providing a reminder that this is not some far off rural idyll. The  noisy planes ascending over the Park, heading for largely warmer climes, are a frequent distraction on a Sunday.
