MonoMonday: Tradition

In the early days of our country, no regulations existed for flying the flag at half-staff and, as a result, there were many conflicting policies. But on March 1, 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower issued a proclamation on the proper occasions.
It is tradition here in the U.S. to fly the flag at half staff when the whole nation is in mourning. These periods of mourning are proclaimed either by the President of the United States for National Remembrance, or by the Governor of a State for a local remembrance.
I haven't ever done the MM challenge before--mostly because I'm so very awful at coming up with ideas--but it's been around for 2 years now, which is so amazing to me!    Arctic freeze is still hanging in here--7 degrees (but at least it's ABOVE zero today instead of BELOW zero like yesterday!)        :))
