Jarácuaro Street

Our first foray into the surrounding communities took us to the towns on the west side of Lake Patzcuaro today. We passed through a half dozen small villages, stopping at over half to view the town square and associated church. The streets, however, are what really drew my attention primarily because it was often difficult to get our mid-sized SUV down them easily. That was especially true in Jarácuaro, a former island that due to receding water levels is now connected to dry land. This is a two-way street as what looks like a concrete alley in the background. We encountered other vehicles as we traversed the streets of Jarácuaro. Each time, we found a way to get by each other and be on our way, though I know my wife was biting her nails in a couple of instances.
