An ordinary life....

Here's Tae Us...

Wha's like us -
Damn few -
And they're a' deid -
Mairs the pity!

We had another brilliant night at our Annual Burns Supper, which although we are all fans of Robert Burns, is really just an excuse for this particular group of friends to get together and eat, drink and be merry!  We definitely don't take it too seriously!  This year's host was Lyn in Edinburgh.

Gill was MC (and a rather tiddly MC at that.  Lots of Prosecco on an empty stomach can have that effect :) Ferdrik said The Selkirk Grace (in Swedish as he's Swedish, then he google translated it from Swedish to Spanish, from Spanish to German, from German to Latin then into English.  The result was interesting :D ), David M addressed the haggis.  That's been his role for the last 20 years as he's the only one who can recite  Address to a Haggis from beginning to end and with great style.

To see him raise the dagger above his head then plunge it into the haggis as he recites with great passion,

"His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An cut you up wi ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!"

 is a sight to behold :-))

Rona delivered the Immortal Memory (or Immoral Memory as Gill introduced it: ), Bill did the Toast to the Lassies and Helena did the Reply to the Toast to the Lassies.  All excellent, funny and well thought out.  Hard Acts to follow next year.

I had a brilliant time helped by the fact that neither David or I were delivering any of the speeches.  All I had to do was enjoy the delicious food, the wine and the great company.

28th January 2017.  Next year's Burns Supper is already in the diary  :-))
