Vintage American

A lazy day, some of which was spent looking out at the miserable rain.

TV, a movie that I don't remember, food -- then suddenly it was time for a bit of a walking wander and a pit stop or two before picking up Carl's car (left at the work place last night while they marked the leaving of a colleague) and returning  me to mine so I could get in to town for the screening of a behind-the-scenes documentary about the development of Robert Lepage's remarkable production for Wagner's Ring cycle at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

It was an excellent documentary. So good, in fact, that I felt a strong urge to go to see the screening of all four operas during the coming week rather than just Siegfried, third of the four, which I'd missed earlier n the year when they were screened live.

The blip was before all that. There was loads of stars-and-stripes bunting in evidence around the Pavilion Centre, presumably because this was the weekend closest to American Independence Day. It was mostly a display of vintage American cars, though free hotdogs and such were being offered as well. The cars looked great.
