Chinese Whispers

Not so long ago we were included in a mailshot entitled '10 of the Coolest villas in Europe'. This is of course clever marketing speak because there is no mention of the size of the group from which the ten were taken. It could equally have been entitled 'a random selection of 10 taken from a collection of one million Cool villas in Europe' but that's not as snappy even if it is probably truthful.

But it did the job and we were noticed by one of Mr Murdoch's staff who included us in the travel section of his weekend Times newspaper in an article entitled 'Top 50 secret villas in the Med'. We presume that the author of the article did indeed make his own personal selection of 50 from a wider choice though we cannot be certain of that. What we can be certain of is that his research is minimal. The piece is probably little larger than a postage stamp, contains two untruths, but has attracted some interest from potential guests who may not otherwise have found us.

I wasn't sure which was more offensive, the phrase 'Chinese Whispers' or another gratuitous sunset.
