One slice at a Time

We need to talk about toast.  Many folk take it for granted; it’s their culinary background music; such people shouldn’t be allowed to eat it.  Toast is, and should always be, life enhancing.  If you are taking toast for granted then you are obviously taking life for granted.  A slice of toast and a cup of tea; what more can a body ask ?  Obviously another slice.  Next time David Cameron addresses the (so called) Nation things would go so much better if he was munching at a slice of toast.  Toast has kept the Empire going (my local Cinema).  Ignore all the claims of bangers and mash and fish suppers.  Don’t forget to vote ‘Toast’ at the next referendum.

Imagine the scene:  St Peter’s Square in Rome.  A well behaved crowd of thousands are awaiting the appearance of the Pope.  Imagine the ripple around the globe if he showed the masses a slice of toast.

And of course it has to be white toast. While the current Mrs Creel does her best to introduce fibre, and I eat my fair share of brown / malted / soda / sour dough etc, it has to be industrial white for toast.  It also has to be well-fired; otherwise it’s obviously not toast.  I just checked and I unwittingly nearly quoted the British Toast Council website verbatim:  www.toastcouncil.co.uk.
