Torrential rain

Today we had a plan.  The plan was…………….. go to ‘Burnham-on-Sea’ and go for a big long walk along the coast there.  However when we woke up this morning it was absolutely chucking it down with rain and was extremely windy.  I went out for a little pre breakfast walk but I came back as soon as I’d had a wee & a poo, which took less than 10 mins, and by that time Ann was absolutely soaked.  So she had to change all her clothes?!!

Not to be deterred; Ann was in positive mode even though her weather app was full of little rain symbols  so she said, ‘Molly, it can’t possibly rain all day.  We’ll have breakfast and by then it will have stopped raining.’

Incidentally, if   there’s any Blippers out there who want to stay in Minehead with their furry friends I’d definitely recommend the Old Shipaground Hotel.  Wouldn’t actually call it a hotel, it’s more like a pub with rooms but I’m allowed to go with Ann when she has breakfast and dinner and our room is a decent size.  Plenty of room for my bed and lots of room for hanging clothes all over the place to dry!

Anyway, after breakfast it hadn’t stopped raining so Ann said, ‘Molly, I’ll put all my waterproof gear on and we’ll walk along the beach and then have a bit of a trek around Minehead this morning and then this afternoon we can go to Burnham on Sea (because it will have stopped raining by then) and have a long walk along the beach there.’

So we walked for 2 hours and it didn’t stop raining.  Grrrr……………

And by the time Ann had changed all her clothes again and we’d had a bit of a chillax it still hadn’t stopped raining.  Grrrrrrr…………..  So then we Ann decided that there was no point in going in the car to Burnham on Sea.  She said, ‘Molly, big long walk is cancelled.  We’ll have another walk around Minehead this afternoon.’

So that is what we did.  Fortunately for the afternoon walk Ann put her wellies on because just look how much water was on the prom.  (This was at least 6 inches deep)  And can you see anyone else in this Blip?  No you can’t, because it would seem that other dogs don’t get walked in the rain in Minehead.  So we trekked around for another hour and a half and we’ve actually walked almost 8 miles today and certainly aren’t going out again this evening it’s still raining.  And when we got back to the hotel Ann had to change all her clothes again?!!  I’m glad I’m just a dog that only needs her fur drying after a wet walk??!!

Had a bit of a scary moment about half an hour ago when we looked out of the window and saw that the tide had come in and the harbour was full of water which appeared to be rising rapidly?!!  Our hotel is right next to the harbour but our room is on the first floor so Ann said we’d be safe even if the place gets flooded.  Then she remembered that our car is parked right outside??  Just checked the tide times.  High tide was 16.55?!  Phew!

Sooooo………….  we didn’t do what we set out to do today, but it’s always nice to have a bit of a change of scene.

Heading home tomorrow and the plan is……………..  do a big long walk in the Bude area en-route………………..

Best laid plans and all that.  Watch this space………………..

……………And just in case anyone is interested?!!!  ……………..It’s still absolutely chucking it down with rain in Minehead!!!
