Cyclamen in flower

A remarkably dense collection of flowers. This was done partly to experiment again with the focus stacking/focus bracketing which is now available on the Olympus E-M1 and E-M5ii cameras with recent firmware updates. I first used the focus stacking feature, which is only available on the E-M1. The camera takes 10 shots, moving the focus slightly forward and backward from the initial focus point, saving the individual shots and then saving a single JPEG version of the stack. There is a setting to change the amount of focus variation on a scale of 1-10. It does a reasonable job, and certainly is quite straightforward to use, not requiring any use of Photoshop to produce the final result. However, it does seem to restrict the exposure you can select, even in manual mode. The photos I took using the focus bracketing option, shown here, (I selected 15 photos) and then combined using Photoshop produced better results in this case, though it is considerable more trouble to go through the process of combining the images in Photoshop afterwards.
