Life through the lens...

Mini mouse

My entry for Tiny Tuesday.

Made out of stone, and small enough to fit on a 5 pence piece.
It was called the smallest mouse in Mousehole, the Cornish fishing village where I bought it many years ago, and where we will be visiting in a few weeks time.

Some great wines tasted last night.
We were even tempted to purchase a few bottles!
Two Riojas, and one from Portugal.
Spanish wine labels can be a bit confusing.

If it has " Crianza" on the label it means the wine has had;
12 months in oak barrels and 12 months in bottle before it is released for sale.

"Reserva"
12. Months in oak barrels and 24 months in bottles before released for sale.

"Grand Reserva"
24 months in oak barrels and 36 months in bottles before released for sale.

So if a wine is a "Grand Reserva" it doesn't necessarily mean it is an exceptionally good wine, just that is at least 5 years old.

Of the six wines we tasted, one was a Crianza, and one a Reserva, which actually was the best wine of the night.

Next month we are tasting New Zealand wines. No doubt some white Sauvignon Blancs, and red Pinot Noir.
