Auld Reekie

No one need wonder why Edinburgh was called 'Auld Reekie' in the days of coal fires, when you see banks of chimneys like this in just one 200 yard stretch of road in the centre of the city.

For all the followers of Lady Findhorn's on going boot saga, let me tell you that at a cost of £6.00 in postage and wrapping, chalked up to the tab of experience, yesterday's boots were sent back from whence they came- right foot never liked them even if left foot disagreed.

Unfortunately the Edinburgh Tiso option of return was not available since I paid by PayPal, and the thought of trailing through with the boots to Glasgow for free on my bus pass was a journey too far.

It would be nice to think that being poorer and wiser would count in future Internet purchasing, but there again perhaps not.
