St Baldred's Well

BB had football training, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to the foul weather.  We’ve had rain, sleet, snow, sleet, rain.  A trully horrid day.  The rain dried up mid-afternoon, and as tempers were getting frayed, we had to get out of the house.  We ended up having a wander at East Linton by Preston Mill, the river, and Smeaton pond, and we managed to fit in a scone at Smearin nursery tea room. I went for a run later as penance for my scone!

Today’s blip is another for freespiral.  This is St Baldred’s Well-a bit overgrown and neglected.  There are lots of reference to St Baldred round these parts. The well doesn't look to be in a great state of repair, but there was clean water flowing/bubbling up.  I posted St Baldred’s Church as an extra last year (last extra on this day).  Today’s first extra is the plaque near the well which tells you something about it, the second extra shows the proximity to a very full, dirty, and fast slowing River Tyne.
