Skien a late afternoon

Skien is a small and charming town some hours from Oslo. It is one of the oldest towns in Norway with a history that goes back to the Middle Ages.
For a very long it was an important port town. Timber was shipped to Netherlands.

Today it is most famous for being the hometown for our famous playwright Henrik Ibsen (A Doll's House) and Telemark canal. It is fascinating to go with the old steam boats through the 18 stair locks. The larges stair lock has 5 chambers and a difference of 23 meters.

This afternoon I got some time to stroll and the clouds broke up to shed a hint of sunset.
