Every Picture Tells .....

Blue Skies Dahn Sarf

I made a trip down to South Yorkshire for an accident investigation training course in Barnsley. I caught the train from Huddersfield and was lucky enough to see Felix (the now internationally famous station cat) on Platform 2.

The course was held in the reception room of the imposing Barnsley Town Hall. The building, which was constructed in 1932 cost £188,037 12/10d and was seen as an unnecessary extravagance at a time when when local miners were forced to live in crowded and insanitary conditions.

The work of art in the foreground is a 5.7 tonne sculpture by Nigel Hall called Crossing (Vertical). It's on loan from Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
