"Ungentlemanly behaviour"

This is a 17th century toll house in Westbury on Trym.  The woman who occupied it was jilted and in response she painted a clock up high on the wall registering the time that it happened and the world stopped for her. She wanted everyone in the village to know that the man who jilted her had behaved in a most ungentlemanly way and this was done to humiliate him.
