Ooops!

This elevenspotted ladybird seemed to come a cropper as she landed on a leaf.  She soon had her wings neatly folded away and she ran off to the back of the leaf. I'm surprised at the rich red of the wingcases, so different from the light orange ones in spring.

My son had a day off work so he took FirehorseMia and me to a movie. I was feeling a little better and since I didn’t have to drive it was good to get away. The temperature inside the house, with doors and windows open, was 30ºC. The air conditioning in my son’s car, the cinema and the supermarket was definitely preferable.

The movie we saw was Alan Bennett’s The Lady in the Van. It was delightful. We’d read the book years ago and it was great to see it.
