Blue Sky and Dark Clouds

There are certainly dark clouds hanging over Aberdeen at the moment, and not only of the type shown in the photograph, but also those resulting from the downturn in the oil price.

The tanks on the right contain drilling muds, demand for which will be down this year, there are almost no exploration wells being drilled at the moment. When I worked in exploration it was always the first area of the business for economies. At any rate that was how it felt at the time, and exploration wells could always be postponed.

The weather was variable today, brilliant sunshine, dark clouds and showers. Quite cold, like the economic climate in the city. There seemed to be fewer supply boats than usual hanging around offshore. Is that because they have been laid up. Maybe it was just my imagination.
