Marking Out

It's Flower Friday in a way. I mean, there are flowers.... But after a busy morning of yet more painting - the ceilings are now done and most of the walls have had two coats but there's still the doors... oh, so many doors...! - it was up to the burial ground to help mark out a home for a new resident.

It's vital to get this right. Once the interment is carried out it's an impossibly serious mess of business to correct any problems, so great care is taken to ensure it all goes smoothly. We opened our burial ground in 2013 and while it might seem odd I love to come up here and see how things are.

It's an ongoing project, and one of the next phases will have to be a litter bin, because an awful lot of plastic waste - mainly from the sponge material that floral tribute displays are set in - ends up being tossed onto our compost heaps. Tomorrow I shall return and harvest the twenty or so plastic flowerpots... waste not want not.

And a recent bee-related email from Friends of the Earth offering free wildflower seed has resulted in a kilo and a half of the right sort of seed for our ground and location, which will certainly help with the quarter acre wildflower bed we've established in the unused half of the burial ground.

It's a busy life, being a parish councillor! decorator! Have a great weekend.
