Fire Up the Spitfire

For me (Chris), an afternoon and early evening treat. I travelled around the M25 to North Weald aerodrome for a chance to photograph some special planes meeting up with fellow blippers HelenJG, husband Matthew and MatthewHicks, There were a large number of photographers present but it was reasonably easy to find your own space and get some shots. The weather on the drive round had included rain and sleet but once there, things were calmer, just very, very cold.

The stars of the show were a Spitfire and a Curtiss Kittyhawk and we even had some "crew" in period dress to add an extra touch (see the extra). Once the sun had set, both planes (which are in regular use) were fired up for a few minutes of proper aero noise. Really great to see a Spitfire on the 80th anniversary of th first flight of this iconic aircraft.

Three extra planes (variants of the Provost jet) were also setup for us and lit at twilight, see one in th extras).
