Pfifferling

Or chanterelle. Lovely orange-yellow colour. Or at least I think so.

Off out on the first mushroom hunt of the year today. Hopes were high as it has been raining quite a lot and mushrooms do like a bit of moisture. After 45 minutes we had about 12 mushrooms. Not a particularly good return. Then we found a few pfifferlinge, quite small but good eating. And we kept looking.

And we hit the jackpot. We found a corner of the forest covered in Pfifferlinge and so we set about them. The best part of 2 kilos later, we were done. We were quite surprised at how big they were - the one in this Blip is about 10 cm (4 inches) across.

A big portion of them are currently cooking with some onions, later we'll add cream and mix them with some linguine. My stomach is growling in anticipation.
