Ladies Who Lunch - And Get Drenched!

Today I joined - for the first time - a few women from church for their bi-monthly walk and lunch.  They normally walk first and have lunch afterwards, meeting and walking at a different place each month. I was looking forward to this - another fun outing on my 'Staycation/Birthday week'.

Because the weather forecast was not good they decided to reverse the plan and eat first and then walk - with the idea that the walk would get called off if the weather was foul. But since there was quite a bit of sunshine during our delicious lunch with only a brief shower, we decided to carry on with the planned walk.

We went to Dorney Lake near Windsor and Eton - owned by Eton College and used for the rowing events for the 2012 Olympics. I've never been there but I frequently see it from the air - on takeoff or landing at Heathrow. (See Extra photo - picture taken on Feb 16th this year.)  We walked around the whole finger-long lake - 5km.

As you can see we really did misjudge the weather!  It was lightly raining when we started but we were hopeful that it wouldn't last. Our hopes were dashed as the rain continued to pelt down harder and harder. We felt quite brave and hardy - but also thoroughly wet and cold to the bone!  There was a lot of laughter as we ploughed on, even when the wind and rain were in our face on the 2nd half of the walk.

Maybe not the best day for a walk??  But a fun outing all the same. Spring!!  Please hurry and get here!!  We need you!!
