Sweet Sixteen ....

We met American actress and Paralympic track and fielder and US record holder Katy Sullivan (see extra) today .... who just so happens to be a bi-lateral amputee.

Let me explain ....

We had a busy (almost non-stop) day today that started by attending a very informational talk about American Blue Birds that was being held at a Wild Birds Unlimited store in Allentown.  The talk was given by Scott Burnet, Habitat Committee Chairman for the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.  And boy, does he know his stuff! We learned so much!

Unfortunately, we had to leave before the program was over and we were unable to speak to him afterwards.  But we will be attending another of his talks in April ... this one is going to be about hummingbirds!

The reason we had to leave early is because we had also signed up to attend another function today!

After leaving there we headed over to Lehigh Valley Hospital to attend the 3rd Annual Amputee Awareness Day put on by the Lehigh Valley Amputee Support Group.  This is where we met Katy Sullivan .... she was the keynote speaker.  Her speech was very inspirational!  Bi-lateral amputees are just so amazing!

You would think that that would be the end of our day, right?

Well no! After leaving the awareness day event we wanted to go for a little walk as we had been sitting most of the day so far.  So, on the way home we stopped at the Housenick Estate.  When we pulled into the parking lot we saw a looooong stretch limo and thought maybe there was a wedding party at the estate doing pictures.

Well, we were wrong.  It wasn't a wedding party ... it was a sweet sixteen party! And everyone was dressed to the nines!  It could easily have been a wedding!  I snapped this picture on the sly! These young girls were just plain adorable!  I believe the birthday girl is the seated young lady in the lower right corner of my picture in the off-white dress.  She has a lovely smile.

As the queen of back blipping I have just put up my shot for Squirrel Blip Friday!
