A True Breton Concert

Our Rennes friends took us to Pacé, a small town nearby, for a marvelous choral concert of songs in the Breton language.  Performing was L'Ensemble Choral du Bout du Monde,* with 70 choralists. It was an enthusiastic and even joyous event.  After two encores, the singers streamed off the stage to greet the audience--the women in yellow jackets, and the men in patterned vests. One of the chorus members is a long-time friend of Nine and Didier, and he joined us for supper at their home. Altogether a wonderful occasion.

*  The ensemble is based in the department of the Finistère at the western end of Brittany.  The group's French name, "Bout du Monde" means "end of the world", which many Finistère residents may feel about their location, surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic.
