More than 7000 people standing in the rain

...to see Bernie Sanders. We stood for an hour and a half in pouring rain, till our shoes and socks were soaked through, our hands were aching from the cold, we were bursting to pee, and the doors still hadn't opened. The line snaked around for many blocks, farther than the eye could see. We decided we could hear him perfectly well on Youtube, and we left without ever coming near the entry doors, but it was thrilling to see all these people--and all these very young people--coming out to support a grandfatherly old curmudgeon with wild white hair on a balding head, an old man whose values and ours are so much in harmony.

Update: after we got home, we learned that nearly 4000 got into the venue, and there were another 3000 left outside. Popular support for Bernie in this part of the country is amazing! We saw his speech on Youtube just an hour after he delivered it, and we loved every word of it.
