Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Heading for peace and quiet

The straits of Georgia, BC. From the ferry. We are so looking forward to some quiet on the island.

Well, .........the power was out when we arrived -and looked like it had been awhile ( the freezer was room temperature) After talking to BC hydro several times and trudging up the hill -we figured out that s huge snag had come down on the wires with such force that one of the power poles snapped off at ground level! No idea when -we haven't been here for 4 weeks- nor has anyone else. But it seems someone tipped them off and BC hydro was over on Friday to trip the switch so at least the wires aren't live. They are supposedly coming tomorrow 10 am with new pole on a barge. ( this living on a small island can be a lot of trouble) . How they knew to come look is a mystery we hope to solve tomorrow.

The raccoons will eat well tonight! ( good thing we don't eat meat... But there were a few salmon burgers I'm reluctant about)

Anyway....our generator is now running the frig, ( and the espresso machine!) the wood stove is hot, and I have a blue apron meal to cook on the stovetop ( which is propane) , a huge book on the Brontes in hand ( thanks to PaulaJ) so all is as peaceful and quiet as we can hope for .... For now.

Maybe I'll get a good "men at work" photo tomorrow! :-)
