Crazy About Birds

By Kimb

Again!

Eastern Phoebe again. This time, rather to my surprise, around in front of the house sort of looking at the bird seed opportunities. Phoebes are flycatchers, insect eaters, and generally speaking have no interest in the seed that the other birds are wolfing down. As their nest is behind the house, under the back porch, whenever one appears near the feeders I do a double take, thinking some new exotic bird has shown up! They have been known to gratefully accept the dried mealworms I have out for them on the back porch - and I think they have come to expect to find some of those, and/or some suet balls, around front as well.

Anyway, here's one of the Phoebes in the maple tree in front of the house.
