Bluebird in the Redbud

This is not my bluebird, but the male of a bluebird couple that WRPerry and I came across at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, perched close to the female and their nestbox.  Although I got a great butterfly shot (see extra), on a daffodil, no less, I couldn't resist this splash of color.

Back on the homefront, our female is still building her nest (day 8!).  I saw her with a mouth full of white pine needles again this morning.  I checked the box yesterday and it is pretty full.  Not sure where she thinks she is going to put all those needles.  There were two males in the backyard this afternoon, doing a bit of bickering.  They are all so fascinating to watch.
