My Day, My Life

Art For Arts Sake

Interesting day today, so many blip opportunities but which to choose?

Hopefully this was a good choice.

I took My Girl and her Best Friend into town, on a shopping expedition.

We parked just before the meters start. At least that way you don't have to worry about getting a ticket.

We walked across the Meadows, which by now look nothing like the marshlands they resembled last weekend.

Over George iv Bridge, down The Mound, over Princes Street (amazingly open) and up onto George Street.

1st stop Hollister.

A shopping experience unlike any other!

The large windows aren't filled with clothed mannequins but with giant screens, projecting images of the rolling sea.

And once inside, the subdued lighting, well it's almost comatose.

Someone send for an electrician!

I left the girls to it, while I had a seat in one of the many comfy chairs conveniently dotted around the shop for your convenience :)

Bags in hand, our next port of call, Jack Wills another equally interesting shopping emporium.

They describe themselves as 'dressing the gentry and with prices to match! The girls decided there was nothing that interested them, this time.

No comfy chairs this time, instead they had an enormous union-jack settee. Very comfy!

Paperchase and Starbucks followed, well shopping does give you an appetite.

Then we headed back over to the precinct at The Art Galleries at The Mound.

Various activities were going on, the first we encountered was this spray-can artist making the most amazing artworks right before our eyes, in just a matter of minutes.

Mrs blip and I bought a similar piece a few years ago.

Next we heard a band playing, a three piece called The Dark Jokes, they had a great sound and I'd definitely like to see them live again!

Once they'd finished their set, I bought one of the CDs they had for sale, as did quite a few others.

We then made our way up the steps to the top of The Mound and up past The Assembly Halls, briefly stopping for a few pictures of our very own Olympic rings.

Finally arriving at Edinburgh Castle, where a certain Mr Noel Gallagher and his high flying birds would be performing to 8000 fans later in the day.

Surveying the scene, we had a walk up to and beyond the stage, where I spied the running order for the days events.

We had time to do a little more legwork before Mr G and band would be sound checking.

So shop they did!

And when we returned to the Esplanade at 16:30 we were treated to a 30 minute performance from the main man & co.

He even threw in an Oasis song too!

Liam could learn a thing or two from him.

We all left quite happy and headed back to the car, home in time for tea.

I'm sure the girls will sleep well tonight after all the walking they did today!
