Seeking minerals

At close to midnight on the 6th April 2002, a 300kg meteorite entered the earth atmosphere at about 47,000 mph, started to break up and slow down, According to calculations about 20kg landed about 80km from here near the most famous of all Bavarian castles at Neuschwanstein and some just over the border in Austria. To date around 6kg has been found.

According to Wiki it was full of iron, silicate mineral and very rare sinoite. Apparently the iron means it has now rusted faster than an old 1970's Datsun or Alfa Romeo, making further discoveries of remains difficult. Not sure what the other minerals are good for. What Farmer Franz does know after having his soil tested, is that he needs more Sulphur because the clean air fanatics, despite attempts from VW to help, have now so reduced emissions from car exhausts, helped by the UK cleaning up it's acid rain exports that he has to add it himself in the form of mineral fertiliser. We also have a general lack of Selenium in this part of the world so, the mixture he was spreading today was high on this too.

Well spreading should read trying to spread. He had just filled the last hopper load at the local farmers co-op and when he pushed the lever nothing came out. He had got a scoop from the front of a pile which had clearly soaked up some of the nights high moisture. No alternative but to go home, empty and wash out the hopper and reload. Annoying.

Franz is a fine example of why I can't find an old cheap tractor. Two sparkling big blue New Holland tractors with all the luxuries and then three oldtimers on top. They claim here that they need a tractor for each implement. Truth is the Swabian's are known for being VERY careful with each penny and they don't trust tractor dealers to give them a good price when trading in, so they simply hoard the things.

In other news, Flash, like his digital Facebook girlfriend Phoebe in Cornwall yesterday, went to the hairdressers barbers today and had his pride, ego, and self-esteem shorn away. Last year for the first time as he suffers very badly in the heat. At least he could hide in a herd of sheep now without being noticed. He refused to be Bliped when he returned in the evening, claiming the drizzle and poor light during the walk did not bode well for his chances of turning his digital loves head. (He did rather like her styling job though <3 )
