Marjorie's ramblings

In the shade of a tree

Another overcast day and we headed for an old monastery set high in the hills.

In one of the courtyards, my attention was drawn to the shadows of a tree against the wall and the ground. It was very windy so I had to keep the shutter speed up to stop blurring. I also tried with a slower speed.

We were also waiting for the church to be opened at 1100.  I wandered off outside and met a local woman (see extra). She was listening for her goats and ahd the bucket ready for milking. We had little language in common but when she realised that we wanted to go inside the church she mimed a key and said "doctor Athens".

The woman who holds the key had gone to Athens for an operation. Our friendly goatherd produced a mobie phone to try to find the priest. Then she was all smiles. The one who had the op was back home and would come. They both stayed while we took photographs.

The goatherd said she was very happy that she had been there to help and she would find the goats later.

We photographers all climbed onto the roof here for fabulous views of the coastline and of the dome of the church.

It was very windy today which made it tiring to set up shots.
