In between the snow

I was up with the larch this morning.  I was planning to get up at a decent hour so Rich could drop me in Ilkley as he headed in but I woke up about an hour earlier than expected, excited about the potential of snow.

Pure blue sky and colourful moors shouldn't really disappoint when you look out of the window but I have to confess to being so.  The feeling wore off quite quickly once we were outdoors.  The clarity and light were incredible.  The freshness of the cool air wonderful.

It wasn't unreasonable to hope for snow but the forecast had quite clearly put the snow clouds just north and south of us.  And indeed they were.  You can see them to the north behind the tree and there was a good old dusting in the far south hills as well.

We had a fine, long walk, heading in the Silsden direction, up to the Buck Stones before taking the high path home.  There was the lightest of dusting up there.  Little Dog was in her element but was more black than tan by the time she'd jogged through a few bogs.

It was too early to be busy even for a beautiful Saturday morning - I probably met no more than half a dozen people in the whole outing.

Cake development time now.
