Spring - growth and webs

We walked up the hill behind our house to get some fresh air. It was grey and drizzly but the forecast was for more, rather than less, rain so we took ourselves out while we had the chance.
The views were not inspiring so close-up subjects were tried. This photograph is the top of a fir tree, about  2 metres tall and 8 years old. This new growth has appeared in late winter, early spring, and even before all the snow is gone an enterprising spider seems to have colonised this penthouse area.
