Elcho Castle

After our late night it was really nice not to have to get up  for anything or anyone in particular.  However, even though BB was away, TT still had to take BB’s football team to a game as the other coaches were all away.  Once he had done that we headed to Elcho Castle near Perth, situated on the backs of the River Tay.  It was built as a country house for the Wemyss family – who seem to own quite a few country houses/castles.  We had tried to visit it last year, but it was still closed for winter.  We had a nice drive up the road, albeit we experienced almost every  kind of weather imaginable!

We were surprised how many people were visiting the castle.  It was very interesting and we both remarked on the number of toilets!!  It was very well provided for in that department.  We didn’t get the views we should have done from the roof, as almost as soon as we got out there, we were battered by a hail storm.

We then headed into Perth, where we were spending the night.  After a very quick look around the shops, we checked out McEwen’s which went into receivership recently – very sad (see extra).  Later we had a lovely meal and thought about our boy in his tent.

Here is a corner of Elcho Castle.
