Lansdown Hall interior from the stage

I had to be here at 9am this morning for a meeting with a new architect who is advising us on ventilation and air circulation issues for this building, Lansdown Hall and Gallery.  Before he arrived I walked around the main hall and stood on a plinth at the rear of the stage to take this picture from an actor's viewpoint.

Tom will attend the working group meeting on Thursday to offer some immediate suggestions on how we might improve the situation in the short term.  We have one final major phase of works to the building to be discussed, designed and then the necessary grants to be found from somewhere, if possible. The round rings in the ceiling were the original gasoliers which vented the gas heaters and other air out through the ceiling and roof space, which would have provided some ventilation.  The vents were blocked up many years ago, and in the meantime we have provided vastly improved heating and insulation so that we now have a minor condensation problem.

I love this building and have been chairing the working group for nearly six years since the town council bought the building as a community venue in 2010. If I don't get elected again I won't be involved anymore, so this is a rather interesting time. If I do get elected and asked to remain as chair, will I want to? The next few weeks will tell.
