Fulsome

This is one flower of the large rhododendron bushes at the top of the Chilean garden in Benmore Gardens - a bush of huge, fulsome blooms that remind me of wedding dresses of a particular style. This year, perhaps because of the stop-start nature of the Spring we've been having, some of the blooms are completely russet-coloured, having come early and then withered/been waterlogged before the rest of the flowers on the bush have come out. Some have withered and new trumpets on the same bloom.

We had such a lovely walk this morning, meeting only two other walkers in the gardens even though the car park and cafe were busy, that I was challenged to choose only one photo to blip. The rest are on Flickr here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/goforchris/26430563202/in/datetaken/
