Pictorial blethers

Elegiac

Late afternoon sun gilds the mossy gravestones in Inverchaolin graveyard beside Loch Striven at the end of a perfect day. The last section of the loch side road is one that I associate with golden afternoons - it's quite a way to drive on a dull day, whereas on a sunny afternoon it's like walking on a stage as the sun shines straight across the loch. Today was filled with birdsong; twice we saw herons taking off from the ground and flapping away through the trees. There were primroses and violets and a blue sky and the first shoots of green on the trees - one of my extra photos is of the sky beyond the larch branches.

The other extra photo is one I took at the very start of the walk. It shows the still-brown of the dead bracken leading uphill to the blue with just the tiniest cirrus clouds scratched across it.
