Finally....

....we hit land, well actually the captain did a good job of steering us gently into harbour at Labadee on the island of Haiti.

I woke up this morning at about 6:00 and we were still out at see and it was very misty with no land insight, so I went back to bed for another 45 minutes and when I awoke for the second time the mist had gone and we were docked.

Labadee is a strange place as it's really a false environment as it's a little section of Haiti owned by the Royal Caribbean Cruise company, who own it until at least 2050. The real Haiti is a bit dodgy to my understanding with a very poor economy and poverty hitting a heigh percentage of it's residence.
We spent the day dipping in and out of the sea and listening to the live music being played. I'm much more looking forward to tomorrow when we hit the lively Puerto Rico where we should be able to absorb more authentic caribbean life (hoping it's how I felt about Cuba).

This image is of our huge ship pretending it's a hammock between two trees.

The temperature was high today and even though there was a lot of cloud cover we all seemed to get a bit burnt somewhere on our bodies.

Extras are another image showing the size of the ship and few locals ------>
