A Friday Supper

There is Edinburgh weather which is on the borderline of being acceptable to visitors from warmer climes and there is weather that is not, and today it was the latter.
It was arguably the most miserable day of this long soggy winter with sleet showers, a bone invading dampness and a temperature of 4 degrees.
We could only apologise when His Lordship and I met our friends at their hotel and guided them to the nearest warm café which happened to be in the Portrait Gallery.

Over English tea and coffee we attempted to bridge the gap of 20 years missed communication and since HL had never met them before there were background checks to be conducted.
We left them to 'do' a proscribed bus tour of the haunts they were familiar with when they lived in Edinburgh in the 1970s, although I couldn't blame them if they crept back to their hotel and read the papers in the warmth.

They will find their own way to the Dower House later for a meal and I am looking forward to seeing how Camer reacts to seeing the transformation of his erstwhile work place.

The old familiar but reliable menu of Jamie Oliver is what is on offer along with butternut squash soup and apple pie.
