Going for it in Gargrave!

I took the train out to Gargrave today, arriving three hours early for the Tour de Yorkshire going through, so I had a very tasty lunch at the Tearooms which were bedecked with little jerseys and then had a wander up and down the road to find a good viewing spot.

The caravan, starring Shaun the Sheep, came blaring through when there were just six of us spectating but my waving and whooping made up for the lack of folks!

Two hours later and Gargrave was filling up with enthusiasm and people.  The old guy in the house behind me kept us informed by throwing open his bedroom window every once in a while and bellowing, "They're in Pateley Bridge!" "They're going up Flasby!" "Through Cracoe!"

It grew quieter (the traffic had been stopped) and colder (four layers didn't prevent the seep), babies were grizzling, policewomen were consulting, then........ the police outrider display team came through having a whale of a time, tooting their tooters, flashing their blue lights, high-fiving children in the crowd, doing wheelies down the centre of the road (I made that last one up), the helicopter buzzed overhead and WHOOOOOSH!  It was over and I was walking back to the station.

Fab!  And we have it all to do again tomorrow with hopefully the addition of a cuppa with yeeeeed and her dad, love a mini blipmeet!
