Wot no Coverage!

A problem with the helicopter meant no tv coverage of the races today which was a shame for the inaugural women's race, but what can you do?

Tony and I parked up at Menston and cycled down in to Otley and all the festivities.  Otley has historical and ongoing cycling connections so they know how to put on a good do and fill the streets with folks.  We biked through to the garden centre and used up some waiting time having lunch then headed out towards Pool to find a good spectator spot.  Tony carried on towards Arthington whilst I set myself up on the roadside and did a lot of waving to passing cyclists and tour vehicles.

We were only around the bend from the racing start so race time came and went, the team buses whizzed by en route to Doncaster, then it was the whoop whoop of police outriders again, the official starter cars and......the riders were by and gone in a flash of colour and gorgeous legs!

We rode back in to Otley, found yeeeeed and dad, had a smashing blipmeet in the cafe full of cyclists consuming huge plates of egg and chips then home.  Hope they fix the helicopter for tomorrow's finale!
