A job well done.

Along the shore path from Arnside there is a historic fingerpost which was placed there in 1897 by Westmorland County Council. It is number 5 in a series of posts erected in the County. There are now just two left in the Arnside area, the other one, number 6 being in Storth.

This one was in a very poor condition until it was recently restored with funds given by the Arnside and Silverdale AONB Landscape Trust and the Barnes Charitable Trust.

Mrs. K. has designed an information board about the history and restoration of the signpost. Yesterday evening it was fixed onto the wall of a small store next to the sign. When I walked down to take this photograph this morning it was already giving rise to much interest from passing walkers.

The extra shows the detail of the Board for those interested.
