Paolozzi - Hand

Part of the three part The Manuscript of Monte Cassino sculpture outside St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral at the top of Leith Walk. This is "the hand that receives". It makes reference to a giant Ancient Roman sculpture on Capitoline Hill in Rome. Apparently the sculpture represents an allegory of pilgrimage.

Professor Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi's family came from Monte Cassino area in Italy, which was was devastated during World War 2.
