Mono Monday - Heritage

I grew up in Wolverton, a town known for its Railway Works. I wanted to take a picture of the replica Bloomer steam engine, but I think it's still in for renovation. So instead I took a photo of this tug which was one of the last boats built by Hayes Boatyard in Stony Stratford, just up the road from Wolverton.

Now I always find this bizarre as Stony Stratford is about as far from the sea as you can get! The factory started off building steam engines for agricultural work, then marine engines, then building tugs, ocean-going vessels, steam boats and river launches.  The factory closed in 1925. When this tug (the Wey) was decommissioned it was acquired by Milton Keynes Museum where it remains on display in the car park.

Now for those of you who think Milton Keynes doesn't have any heritage, please also see JohnRH's fabulous blip https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2176374952792425773
