Mouse Ears

A week ago the twigs were bare. Yesterday they were full of buds. Today small leaves heve opened up, translucent in the morning sun.
Each leaf is about the size of the fingernail on my little finger. 
Why the title - These very first leaves, unfolding from birch buds, are know as musören, mouse ears, in Swedish!
