Hard Competition for the Perfect Grass Straw

After another lovely day on Crete it was hard to choose a Blip. But then I remembered it was Tiny Tuesday so this was the Blip!
After drinking a lot of water I had wandered into the jungle of bamboo grass, and found this small area where hundreds of snails were climbing the long stalks of grass. I've no idea why but I'll file it under the "nature is wonderful" heading.
The extra is taken at Kolymbari where we ate a lovely lunch and went for a swim. (See Jan's blip) This early in the season this is a wonderful place. This view, taken from the harbour pier shows one of the few hotels, the beach, and in the background the very aptly named Lefki Ori,  White Mountains.
Right now there is snow up there but the name also comes from the main rock, limestone, which is a light coloured stone.
We swam in front of one of those hotels, stealing the use of their beachfront fresh water shower after we had swum.
