Eastern Phoebe

We went to the Fort River refuge early this morning, for the first time in well over a week (for me, due to my cold). These phoebes are flycatchers, and this fellow indeed appears to have some sort of a fly--which he held for at least a minute. He is clearly banded, on his right leg (a bit oddly, since there seems to be a metallic flap hanging from the band).

Otherwise we encountered only a relatively modest number of species, with nothing special.
