Vendicari

We left Siracusa this morning, for Ragusa.

En route we visited the lovely little baroque town of Noto, and then Vendicari - Europe's most southerly nature reserve. The blip is the derelict tuna fishery at Vendicari. Nineteenth century in origin, it closed in 1944. Eyes half closed it looks a bit like an ancient Greek temple.

But best of all today - returning from our evening meal, a not at all shy tawny owl perched on the cross atop an old lit up church, hooting away. And in the clear sky, a full moon, and three planets (Mars, Saturn and Jupiter) clearly visible.
