Flower Friday

I have stuffed it up again and missed the "animal" theme and now it is too darn hot to get outside to do it again.  The current temperature is 94 degrees! It seems like it was just last week we were all complaining about constant rain and 50 degree temperatures....We have skipped spring completely.   For a very brief moment, I thought I would try something very clever like dfb24  but I haven't a clue as to how to do that and I am too tired to search for a tutorial after spending several hours in the garden this morning planting and weeding.  So this is it....

We are heading into our Memorial Day weekend which is the official start of summer, with temperatures to prove it.  There are lots of things going on here in DC: the nation's largest Memorial Day Parade, the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally to honor the Vietnam vets, the National Symphony will have a concert on the West Lawn of the Capitol, there will be ceremonies at all the war memorials, all the graves in Arlington Cemetery have had flags placed on them, the Smithsonian Museums will have extended hours, there will be picnics and barbecues and there will be baseball.  It's a great place to be for this holiday weekend.
